The Hive was an interactive installation over a ten year period at the former ABC No Rio, a center for art and activism on New York’s Lower East Side. ABC is known internationally as a venue for social and political engagement. The Hive began in 2000 as part of The Ides of March Biennial, a building-wide art invitational. During the Ides of March exhibitions, the entire 5-story tenement became home to over 50 artist projects. For the past decade, The Hive had undergone a transformation every few years. ABC secured funding to build a new art center and in 2017 the old structure was demolished.
