The Hive was an iterative installation over a ten year period at the former ABC No Rio, a center for art and activism on New York’s Lower East Side. ABC is known internationally as a venue for social and political engagement. The Hive began in 2000 as part of The Ides of March Biennial, a building-wide art invitational. During the Ides of March exhibitions, the entire 5-story tenement became home to over 50 artist projects. For over a decade, The Hive underwent a transformation with every Ides of March Biennial. In 2017, ABC secured funding to build a new art center and the old structure on Rivington Street, along with The Hive, was demolished.
